Caroline Boyle,Documentation Manager at Anaplan, Inc. November 20, 2016 |
I managed Thomas Albert for 2.5 years at Anaplan. He wrote excellent documentation for Integrations and Security. His Integrations work included API references for software developers, data integration guides for Informatica and Mulesoft, Anaplan Connect for administrators, and an application integration guide for Salesforce.
His Security work for developers and administrators included Authentication, Roles-based Authorization, and an Administrator tool with a graphical user interface. His focus on usability led him to consolidate the API Guide and the API Reference into a single document, and to re-architect the Anaplan Connect Guide. He showed good initiative in gathering customer feedback. His writing is clear and concise. He works well with software developers, QA engineers, and product managers. |

I worked closely with Thomas at Anaplan over the past two years. Documentation is important for Integrations and Security and we were lucky to have Thomas in that role. He is very detailed oriented and can translate technical features into easy to follow user guides. Integrations in particular presented challenges in that Thomas often had to work with wildly different formats and different documentation standards. Thomas always delivered even under those difficult conditions. If you need a professional who can deliver essential technical documentation regardless of the technical complexity then Thomas is your man. |
Yvonne Chen,
Product Manager at Facebook (formerly at Anaplan) October 7, 2016 |
Thomas was the technical writer for a project that required getting up to speed quickly in an entirely new domain and producing documentation to educate both internal and external audiences on a complex topic. He worked with developers who were eight time zones away from San Francisco and developed a great rapport with them — it definitely was a major benefit for the entire team that he was able to read and write in both French and English! Thomas is extremely detail-oriented and has admirable meticulousness in his research, but more importantly, he always acted as a customer advocate and provided insights even beyond documentation and information architecture. He is truly a top-notch information developer and I feel very lucky to have had a chance to work so closely with him! |

Thomas was my perfect match. I hate to document and he loves to listen. More than that, he would ask questions and understand the application or architecture in order to produce the documentation my organization needed to train, follow procedures, and document steps for audit. I would love to work with Thomas Albert again. |

As a DevOps Engineer, I have worked with Thomas for more than 10 years, first at MDL/Symyx/Accelrys, and then again at Anaplan. He communicates effectively with developers and produces quality material. He also creates helpful technical graphics. His writing is clear and easy to follow. His delivers his work on schedule, and is pleasure to have as a colleague. |

Thomas is a highly-cooperative team
player with a passion for efficient, highly-usable documentation. He
connects well with subject matter experts and writes in a minimalist
style, bearing in mind both customer-advocacy and ease of maintenance.
I worked closely with Thomas at Terracotta and witnessed the wisdom that he brings to documentation projects, as well as his extensive technical knowledge. He was enthusiastic, conscientious, and a pleasure to work with. I give Thomas my highest recommendation for Senior Technical Writer. |
Gwendolyn
Stringer, Senior Manager
Gwendolyn managed Thomas at Accelrys April 1, 2014 |
I had the pleasure of managing Thomas as
part of a globally distributed information development team. Thomas is very thorough. He explores 'quality' problems to understand and solve the root cause. He has developed excellent solutions. During his time reporting to me, Thomas enthusiastically demonstrated the ability to learn and apply new skills. For example, he quickly learned Agile tools such as Jira and shared with the team his knowledge of writing Jira queries. He also provided early customer-focused feedback for product releases. Thomas is a particularly strong asset for writing Developer/API Documentation. Thomas is forward-thinking about where information deliverables are going. Thomas was an excellent team player, as well. |
Theresa
Navarro, Senior Technical Writer at Bio-Rad
Laboratories Theresa managed Thomas at Symyx Technologies April 1, 2014 |
I was both a colleague and manager of
Thomas in our years together at MDL and Symyx. Thomas has a very strong
desire to teach and to learn. He is very willing to share information to
any audience, as well as to learn new skills and new technologies. Thomas is flexible, hard-working, and very capable of writing for different audiences: API references and developer guides for developer audiences, administrator guides for system administrators, or online help for end-users. He can accomplish a lot very well in a short amount of time. Thomas works very well in Agile environments, planning his tasks and querying user stories to get comprehensive detail for the team. Thomas was a pleasure to work with, and I know he will be an asset to any team. |
David Pirkle,
Principle Software Engineer at InVitae David managed the Agile team April 3, 2014 |
I had the pleasure of working on the same team with Thomas for several years. He's one of those people who goes the extra mile, always pushing the team to improve, whether it be in our process or our software. He's a hard worker and very conscientious about the quality of his work. At the same time, he works effectively within the team and is a fun guy to work with. He collaborated productively with development and QA in our team room, as well as with the teams in Oregon and Bangalore, India. He took on all aspects of the documentation for the enterprise Electronic Laboratory Notebook used by large pharmaceutical companies. He improved the "How-To" for the REST API, wrote online Help for scientific researchers, and updated deployment and administrator guides in a fast-paced, distributed Agile environment. He has a curiosity for technical subjects, a talent for clear writing, and a passion for making the documentation (and product) more usable. |

I had the privilege to work with Thomas
at MDL/Symyx/Accelrys from 2003 - 2013 as a subject-matter expert for
his Developer Guides, API References, and online Help. Thomas is diligent in asking the appropriate questions, which enables him to translate complex developer information into examples and explanations that are easy to understand. He proactively watches source changes to keep up with new features as they emerge. I recommend him highly. |
